It took her a month, but out little girl has finally reached her birth weight! Abionah weighed 5lb 7 oz when she was born and then dropped to 4.8 before she started gaining her weight back. She stayed at 4.9 for a about a week and then gradually started gaining! Maybe she just has our metabolism!
Now that she has reached her birth weight we are allowed to let her sleep longer than 4 hours at night before waking her up to eat. The only problem… our little girl likes to guzzle down the milk when she first starts eating… the leads to the swallowing of air which leads to gas which in turn leads to her waking up in the middle of the night due to gas pains. Thus our prayer is that she will learn to sleep longer even in the midst of her gas, or even better, that she will stop having gas problems…
On another note, it's hard to believe that Abionah is already a month old! How time flies! And I know it will only seem to go faster as we all get older!

ReplyDeleteAwww, poor little Abi, gas pain is no fun. She doesn't even understand why she hurts, either. I hope the gas pains subside ASAP. We had to deal with a lot of it with our first, Jake, because he turned out to be lactose intolerant. Lots of sleepless nights, but flexibility is key to surviving it.

Do you guys have the special bottles that help keep air bubbles from forming? they are a pain to wash but they work really well.
