So it’s been about three and a half months since our last update… sorry about that. Essentially you have only missed half of Abi’s life over that time… not too much, right?
So this is our attempt to try to quickly update you on the past three months.
The life of a teacher is incredibly busy during the school year. Going in to school early to make copies and prepare for the day, teaching from 7:30 – 3:00, staying after school to grade papers and prepare for the next day then coming home to spend the evening making lesson plans… but it all pays off during those lovely weeks of summer when we get to share uninterrupted time as a family!
This summer was wonderful but went by way too fast! The school system changed their starting date this year so our summer was two weeks shorter than normal. Granted it is still much longer than the typical vacation from work but the changes certainly made the summer pass in what seemed to be a blink of an eye.
Abi is now 6 months old, weighs a little over 11 pounds and is 25 inches long.
Here are some of the things Abi did over the summer:
- Attended three weddings (she sat through two of them and played in the nursery during the third – this was her first nursery experience)
- Met greatgrandmama and her great aunts and uncles on Jon’s side
- Met some new friends including Haddon Alexander, Judah and Bethany Thimsen and James Barth
- Visited with Grandma Parsons, cousin Benjamin and Rose
- Met her Aunt Emily, Uncle Nathan and cousin Maddy (who currently live in China but were visiting for a few weeks)
- Met her Gran Forrest
- Attended her first retirement party
Abi is growing up so quickly! Here are some of the things she learned to do over the summer / really enjoys:
- LOVES being outside!
- Gnaws on fingers (thats right… she is wonderful at gnawing on them but will NOT suck on them to calm herself down, though she absolutely LOVES sucking on anything she can!)
- Started playing with toys around the beginning of August (her favorite toy is a cloth book that was a gift from a good friend. She always has it in her mouth)
- Laughs often, especially when tired
- Focuses on facial expressions and responds with smiles and giggles
- Follows voices; recognizes our voices
- Beginning to get attached to us and will often fuss when being held by others
- Loves kicking her legs and playing with her feet
- Likes to roll onto her side and stay there
- Has rolled from tummy to back several times
- Loves it when others play with her legs and feet
- Babbling, cooing and squealing
- Enjoys playing in her crib
- Reaches for objects
Below you will find pictures. They go in chronological order… Enjoy!

It looks like Abi is too small for her eyes :-) She is getting so big. Just think, when Maddy was 6 months old we started watching Jachin. I hope she is doing well sleeping and what not. We hope to have news for you soon about baby #2's gender. We go on Monday.
